Job Description:
Design and create a variety of products for clients in a truly collaborative and team-oriented environment. Serve as a creative resource for clients assisting them in identifying their design needs and providing them with creative solutions to meet those needs. Work with external vendors, including printers, to solicit bids and oversee the production process. Collaborate with editorial staff and staff from other departments as well as external groups.
1. Use computer software and systems, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign in a Macintosh environment to produce graphic designs and layouts of print and electronic communications including, but not limited to, marketing material, newsletters, books, magazines, journals, guidelines, e-newsletters, Web sites, posters, and calendars.
2. Serve as a resource to clients regarding their design needs. Conceptualize and create products based on identified needs. Participate in planning meetings to gain an understanding of project scope. This includes identifying project design direction in a collaborative environment, presenting design directions to decision makers, incorporating their feedback, and understanding and communicating budget impact.
3. Ensure that designs are in line with existing brand identities. Assist clients with limited brand identities in creating a consistent visual experience across products.
4. Solicit printing bids and manage printing process. Prepare final layout for printing and oversee production process with external vendors.
5. Monitor design and printing project budgets. Proactively identify and communicate status of design and printing budgets for projects on an ongoing basis.
6. Maintain and improve design and technical skills to ensure effective job performance by keeping abreast of innovations in design concepts; software and hardware updates; and collaborating with fellow designers to share creative ideas, best practices, and lessons learned.
7. Collaborate with department team to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow; open communication; and a team-oriented approach to serving the needs of clients. May also work with staff from other departments and external member groups.
Requirements;
· A bachelor’s degree in graphic design is required. One to two years experience in graphic design or related field.
· Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) in a Macintosh environment. Flash, Dreamweaver, and/or digital video experience a plus.
· Working knowledge of MS Office applications.
· Ability to plan and manage multiple and complex projects with tight deadlines.
· Must possess strong interpersonal skills, customer service focus, and communicate effectively with all levels within the company.

Responsibilities:

Graphic Designers provide traditional printing, Web and multimedia support to the CIA's intelligence efforts. They use the latest technology to provide high-quality products utilized by policymakers throughout the federal government, including the President of the United States.
Graphic Designers also support Agency customers with hard- and soft-copy products, including Web sites, and they are responsible for a wide range of routine-to-complex projects such as: Web design, publications, brochures, cover design, posters, briefings, illustration, logos and exhibits. Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree in graphic design or fine arts with a strong emphasis on graphic design. Familiarity with digital file formats (tiff, gif, eps, pdf, jpg) and a comprehensive knowledge of graphic design principles and production methods also are needed.
