The School Solutions Group, a division of McGraw-Hill Education, has an immediate opening for a Graphic Designer in Desoto, TX. This position provides an opportunity for the selected candidate to apply his/her graphic design expertise to design and produce a broad range of finished collateral materials.
Responsibilities:
* Layout, design, copy editing, proofing, and output of printed sales promotional materials, including flyers, invitations, brochures, free with order booklets, posters, cutouts, correlations, lesson plans, newsletters, and inservice materials
* Art creation or procurement for all projects, including some illustration and photo manipulation
* Scanning of components and pages for use in printed materials and on-screen presentations; color correction, use-appropriate sizing, clipping, and save-down of scanned materials
* Maintenance of Macintosh computer and peripherals
* Keeping current on design trends, using trade magazines, books, or attending seminars
* Keeping current on operating systems and troubleshooting
* Organize and fulfill all project requests from Field Marketing Coordinators in a timely basis, ensuring accuracy of each project
* Communicate with field personnel on assigned projects as needed and participate in weekly departmental meetings
* Demonstrate proficiency in design software by creating layouts and presentations for sales field
* Increase design knowledge base by reading and studying magazines, books, websites, training manuals, and tutorials
Qualifications
Required:
* Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Computer Graphics, Multimedia, Illustration, Advertising, or Marketing from accredited university or institute
* Must have proficient knowledge of the following software: Macintosh Tiger, Adobe InDesign CS2, Adobe Photoshop CS2, Adobe Illustrator CS2, Font Management Software, QuarkXPress 6.0, Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), and Macromedia FlashMX experience a plus
* Must have demonstrated excellence in graphic design skills and a high degree of innovation through a professional portfolio
* Excellent analytic thinking and creative problem solving skills for visual information design
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
* Ability to function effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and the stamina to produce high-quality graphics in a fast-paced work environment
